I
am a baseball player and follower, my favorite team is the New York Yankees,
but since I stayed really close to Milwaukee for a while I feel a connection to
the Brewers and Brewers related stuff. When I heard what happened to their
shortstop Jean Segura, I had no words.
On
Saturday Jean Segura lost his 9-months old child. I do not have a child of my
own but I certainly do sympathize with him.
His son was
in the Dominican Republic and Segura had to know after the game against the
Cardinals. As his teammate, Carlos Gomez, saw him crying at his locker, he
approached him and was let in on the tragedy. Carlos and his coach Ron Roenicke
were the club’s spokeperson’s
Segura is now
in Dominican. Gomez said in an interview “I have two kids,” he then added “If
it were me, I wouldn’t come back.” I hope the team can play for him, and later
with him.
The Brewers
suffered a 7-6 loss with the cardinals. This is a good season for them as they
stand first in their division with the Cardinals right behind. I sincerely hope
Segura can recover and the Brewers get back on track.
What
was your reaction to the news? As his teammates what would you have done? What
would you do if faced with such tragedy?
