I’m
one hundred percent sure all of you have either heard, or taken part in the Ice
Bucket Challenge, but what is the whole story behind it? + Bonus: Who rocked it
the most?
Officially, it’s
the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge… let’s backtrack: what is ALS? ALS is the Amyotrophic
Lateral Sclerosis, also called the Lou Gehrig disease, for obvious reasons; it
hits the Nerve Cells of the Brain and the Spinal Cord, which causes
difficulties moving part of your body or full paralysis.
Pete Frates
used to be the captain of the Boston College Baseball team, up until he was
unfortunately diagnosed with ASL. His family was destruct, he was as well, but
he took it just like another challenge, literally. About a year and a half
after the diagnosis Pete gets married and he would later have a son.
A couple of his
friends decided to start the challenge to raise awareness and donations to the
cause; the ASL Foundation declared its donations income of $15.6 Million since
then.
This is a great
thing and I’m happy so many celebrities are taking part in this challenge and raising
awareness and donations, but at the same time I feel like the normal teen doesn’t
know what he’s pouring ice and water on its head for.
Now, to the big
question everyone wants to know the answer to;
Who rocked the
challenge the most between the challenged celebrities?
BILL
GATES
Yes! Bill Gates made the most
formidable, funny, and creative challenge video of all; challenge by his friend
and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, challenged, Bill immediately put his creative
and entrepreneur mind at work, he created an automatic Ice bucket dropper so he
would only need to pull some strings, and I’m sure being the richest man on the
planet he has made a couple million dollars in donation.
I do have to
give a quick shout out to Grant Gustin from the Flash TV Series who made an
interesting video where he qucly gets soaked but right after he shouts “CURE ALS,
CURE CANCER, CURE THEM ALL!!!”
What do you think about the Challenge?
Were you challenged? What was your favourite video?
As usual tell me in the comments
