The Walking Dead - Week 7 | Se. 5 Ep. 5 Review

With Sunday rising we all know what time it is… The Walking Dead time. This week’s episode has been a slow but exquisite one, with twist and turns everywhere.

Abraham, a skilled killer for most, and an upright soldier who always brings his missions to an end. But what is behind all that has brought him to where he is. This episode has it all, though vaguely, explained; it does a great job of continuously change the episodes climax, focusing on 2 different timelines has a lot explained.

Abraham was once a family man who served his country good. When the dead started rising all he could do was take them out. Unfortunately, his family didn’t quite see it that way, when they decided to leave him they were slayed upon learning the threat they avoided thinking of as a threat is indeed a threat. When nothing is left for him and all he could do was to take his own life, a new hope shines in front of him, or at least he thought.

Eugene is a scientist, with a knack for detail… and lying. As scared as he was he had to make a choice. Now he has a convoy of personal guards, all with the objective of protecting him and bringing him safely to Washington D.C. so he can work out a cure for the disease that’s turning the dead into living, if it costs them their life. In one event Abraham was worried more about Eugene than the woman he was sleeping with.

Eugene was accompanied on his journey by Abraham and the beautiful, young Rosita, when they stumbled upon Rick and his group; from there the all have joined together to resist the apocalypse and get to D.C. At this point Abraham has to follow his mission which Rick and the rest of the group, but Glenn and Maggie, is not yet ready to fulfill. Those who are will leave at once and come back as soon as they are able to get safe to D.C., or as close as they can get to safe.

When cornered, and with no way through a town full of walkers Eugene had no other option but to tell the truth. Eugene doesn’t actually know how to stop the cure and he isn’t actually a scientist; he just said what he said because he doesn’t have any actual strength, or ability, or anything that could help him out in any apocalipsal scenario… except his knowledge, which he uses to create a human shield around him, all with the same purpose.

Everyone is pretty pissed at Eugene, crushing their dreams of waking up from the apocalypse of the dead. Abraham snaps and knocks out Eugene who therefore falls on the ground and takes a pretty big hit.

My Verdict
This episode took it pretty easy except for the discovered truth about Eugene. We also got to find out more about the origins of Eugene. We didn’t see any of the old team and no real progress was done on the story. There also were pretty slow scenes which made you want to pull out your phone and tweet.

Final Score
7.5
